Love this summary by Mark Guzdial. He points out three major research questions that need to be investigated with respect to MOOCs before we allow them to “take over” universities:
- What will be the impact of MOOCs on diversity in computing?
- Are MOOC discussions doing any good?
- How much learning is going on in MOOCs?
What I’m most interested in looking into are questions 1 and 3. 3 should be straightforward enough to measure, if we just make use of good pre- and post-assessments. Measuring the impact on diversity may be harder, and I think interviewing students here could be really useful (although very time consuming).
